The YMCA's Older Adult program is designed to enrich the lives of people who are in their middle years and older by helping them develop skills and capacities to meet life's challenges. The YMCA strives to give older adults a place to improve their fitness levels, explore new interests, make new friends, share ideas and be the best they can be. Your YMCA membership provides access to activities especially for the Older Adults. Fitness classes, aquatic exercises, health and wellness programs and social activities are provided.

SilverSneakers
Muscular Strength & Range of Movement. Have fun and move to the music through a variety of exercises designed to increase muscular strength, range of movement and activity for daily living skills.  Hand-held weights, elastic tubing with handles and a ball are offered for resistance; and a chair is used for seated and/or standing support.

seniorcise
A low-impact, low-intensity exercise class designed for the older adult. Each class is 50 minutes and includes movements that promote joint flexibility, range of motion, muscle strengthening and cardiovascular conditioning.

senior specialty
An exercise program for seniors including those with special concerns. Majority of the class is conducted in a chair with some use of the bar.

shallow water aerobics
A moderate to high impact and intensity exercise class designed to increase cardiovascular, muscle strength and stamina in shallow water.

deep water aerobics
A moderate to high intensity with no impact class designed to increase cardiovascular, muscle strength and stamina in deep water (buoyancy belts are worn).

arthritis aquatic exercise
A low impact and low to moderate intensity exercise class designed to increase joint mobility and full range of motion in shallow water.

computer basics
This class is designed for older adults who are interested in learning the basics of the computer from turning it on to sending attached files over e-mail.

computer for the advanced beginner
This class is designed for older adults who are interested in practicing and advancing their computer knowledge. Must have some working knowledge of Microsoft Word.

body recall
Body Recall is a lifetime fitness program for the mature adult that utilizes movements that make life pleasurable. The mechanics of everyday activities such as walking, climbing and descending stairs, sitting and standing are explored fully. The exercises stimulate circulation and increase strength and flexibility. Body Recall movements are possible for all people regardless of physical limitations, such as arthritis, heart disease, and diabetes. (10 week sessions)

Are you an Active Older Adult who enjoys exercising with friends? Let our trained professionals put you through the ropes! One-hour class involves free weights, therapy balls, resistance bands, and steps. Don't just do the same old thing!
