Thank you for considering an online gift to the Peninsula Metropolitan YMCA.
With 91 cents of every dollar going directly to program support and financial assistance, your investment in the YMCA is an efficient and effective way to help reach those in need.
The YMCA is a 501(c)(3) charitable non-profit organization. Your gift is very much appreciated and fully deductible.

The Strong Communities campaign makes Y programs affordable and accessible to all. The campaign allows us to open our doors and our hearts to those in need. Families who cannot afford the full price of programs and child care can receive financial assistance scholarships. Membership and program fees are not used for this purpose. Instead, we rely on charitable contributions from friends like you. More than $2.2 million in scholarships are awarded annually to help families in the communities we serve locally. We help families afford child care, sports programs, swim lessons, art programs and membership to the YMCA.
Today's YMCA is a force of hope. But, we always run out of money before we run out of kids. Can you help? Our future depends on the strength of our children. Your commitment to the Strong Communities campaign will keep peninsula kids growing stronger and stronger. We can create a more promising future for ourselves and for generations to come.
Together, we can give every child a place to go and a chance to grow.
Our financial statement is available upon written request from the Virginia Office of Consumer Affairs.

Contributions to the Peninsula Metropolitan YMCA, a tax-exempt organization under Section 501 (c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code, are deductible for computing income and estate taxes.
For over 150 years, the YMCA has devoted itself to serving kids, families and communities. We want to ensure that we will forever be available - providing membership and programs - for everyone who wants and needs the Y in their lives. The good you do can live on forever through a gift to the Peninsula Metropolitan YMCA Endowment fund.
There are several types of plans listed below. Many of these have wonderful benefits for the gift donors such as increased income and generous tax savings. You will want to consult a tax professional about your plans. We can suggest the following past President of our YMCA as someone who is available to assist you with clear and understandable information about endowing specifically to the YMCA.

An outright gift of cash - In this way, donors not only benefit from the good that will be done but current income tax savings.
An outright gift of appreciated assets - If you chose to contribute such items as stock or property owned for longer than one year, you would receive a charitable deduction equal to the current value of the assets while avoiding capital gains taxes.
A life insurance gift - Naming the YMCA as a primary or even secondary beneficiary of your insurance policy paves the way for a large future gift. Should you wish to contribute a life insurance policy that is no longer needed to protect current beneficiaries, you could realize substantial income tax deductions.
A gift through your will - You may wish to consider including the YMCA in your will or living trust. In this way, a fixed amount, specific asset or percentage of your estate may be set aside as bequests and qualify for estate deductions.
A gift made through a charitable trust or annuity - Creating a charitable trust or annuity provides life income for yourself and/or others. With all or a portion of your gift eventually directed to the YMCA, you could receive a charitable deduction.
Nicole White Memorial Scholarship Fund
The Peninsula Metropolitan YMCA has initiated a scholarship through our endowment fund to honor Nicole White who was one of the thirty-two Virginia Tech students who died on April 16,2007. Nicole was a lifeguard for the Luter Family YMCA in Smithfield and volunteered many hours each week both for the YMCA and for various organizations in her community. The scholarship will be presented each spring to one senior at Smithfield High School for use at a state university of their choice. Nicole White Web Page Nicole White Scholarship Recipients
