Fun? It’s in our nature at YMCA Camp Fort Monroe. Camp is located on the grounds of old Fort Monroe in Hampton, Virginia. The unique location allows us to connect children to the outdoors through activities like boating, fishing, crabbing, biking, swimming, nature exploration, and beach activities in addition to more traditional camp activities like sports and field games. We also offer specialty camps for cheer & dance, music & drama and team building & leadership. YMCA Camp Fort Monroe is a day-camp but, because of its location, it offers adventures similar to those kids might have at our resident camp, Camp Kekoka. Camp Fort Monroe is a fun alternative for parents of kids who are ready for more from their summer camp experience. Parents drop their children off at one of the YMCAs located in Hampton, Newport News or Yorktown. Children are bussed to Camp Fort Monroe from the Y and bussed back to the Y at the end of the day.
WHAT’S HAPPENING AT CAMP
Ages: Camp Fort Monroe is for rising 4th through rising 9th graders.
Cost: Members $105.00, Non-Members $120.00 (includes camper tee-shirt and bag)
Days/Hours: Monday-Friday, 6:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.
State licensing requires you bring the following items with you to registration; registrations cannot be accepted/completed without them.
- School physical (must be within the past 24 months)
- Shot record
- Original birth certificate
A non-refundable $40 registration fee and payment for the first session is due upon registration. Because we need to ensure space is available for your child and others, we ask you to guarantee your spot in future sessions by paying a $25.00 deposit per child for each session they will attend. The deposit is non-refundable and non-transferable because holding the spot for you means we can’t sell the spot should you change your mind. Payment balance is due prior to each session. We offer a $5 discount for each additional child. A separate charge applies for Busch Gardens and Water Country tickets. Financial assistance is available; please ask about the Guardian Program.

Please bring the following items to camp; all should be labeled with your child’s name:
- 2 snacks
- Water bottle
- Bathing suit (one-piece for girls)
TRANSPORTATION TO & FROM CAMP
Drop-off and pick up your camper at Camp Fort Monroe between 7:30 AM and 5:00 PM or choose from any of the following convenient bus transportation locations:
Hampton Family YMCA – drop your child off as early as 6:00 AM, pick up by 6:00 PM
Newport News Family YMCA – drop your child off as early as 6:00 AM, pick up by 6:00 PM
Victory Family YMCA – drop your child off as early as 6:00 AM, pick up by 6:00 PM
WHAT PARENTS SHOULD KNOW
Parents, you can rest assured that your campers are in safe and capable hands. All camp staff are CPR and First Aid trained and are screened against criminal and child protective service records. Since we are surrounded by water, we guarantee that all water activities are lifeguarded by certified staff. With a counselor to camper ratio of 1:15, we always have our eyes on your child. Specialty counselors are trained for the program they teach. Our staff can’t wait to spend quality time exploring nature, and old Fort Monroe, with your child! We spare no cost to make sure our staff exceeds your every expectation.
