Ages: Rising Kindergartners 5 – 12 years old

Camp hours: 6:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.

Cost: $86/week for members and $116/week for program participants

Registration Information

Registration is held at the Newport News Family YMCA, 7827 Warwick Blvd., Newport News, VA 23607.

What to bring:

  1. You may fill out a Summer Camp Application to bring with you
  2. An original birth certificate, immunization record, and physical for each camper must accompany your application to register
  3. $40 non-refundable registration fee per child due at time of registration

Due to state licensing requirements, incomplete registrations cannot be processed.

Counselor in Training

Teens learn about being a camp counselor during morning course work sessions. In the afternoon they put their knowledge into practice while working side by side with counselors in camp groups. By application.

Ages: Rising 8th graders to rising 9th graders 15-17 years old

Myth Busters – Session 1: June 19 – June 23
Step into the shoes of a myth buster. Using a method for each experiment, you’ll uncover the science behind every discovery.

This beginning basketball camp teaches basic skills through games and teamwork.

Who’s hungry? Want to learn how to make some basic snacks and mini-meals? This camp is great for little chefs who want to learn basic meal preparation, how to set a table, develop a menu, and serve guests. Campers will participate in creating snack menus, making food, and serving guests.

Learn how much fun it can be to make a story come to life for an audience

Lego – Session 7:  July 31 – August 4

Do you love building? Future engineers and architects use your imagination and problem solving skills to build 3D creations. During this week youth will work on individual projects as well as group projects creating objects, sharpening the mind and creating friendships through team work.

The YMCA School-Age program provides an environment where children can easily make friends, be part of a group, meet physical challenges, and know that they are liked, respected and appreciated. Our program offers youth the opportunity to have fun while learning healthy living through 5210 and science, technology, engineering and math through S.T.E.M. reading and arts activities.
