What's Happening at the Y


After School Child Care

AGES: Rising Kindergarten to rising 6th graders

School-age children participate after the school day. Participants are picked up at the Lancaster Primary School and Lancaster Middle School, then transported by the YMCA bus to the Northern Neck Family YMCA. The YMCA School-Age program provides an environment where children can easily make friends, be part of a group, meet physical challenges, and know that they are liked, respected and appreciates. The children also participate in 5210 health and nutrition program, homework program, games, free time, character development and lots more fun!

COST: Members: $42 / week, Others: $50 / week.  The registration fee per child is $40.

To ensure each participants receives the highest quality experience possible, we must limit enrollment. Please bring copies of: school physical (must be within the past 24 months), shot record and original birth certificate to complete your registration. Due to state licensing requirements, incomplete registrations cannot be processed.

AFTERNOON PRESCHOOL is also available for children who are 3 years-4 years 9 months. Children are picked up and transported by the YMCA bus to the Wiley Child Development Center. Cost is $48 members and $55 for others.  The registration fee per child is $40.


Pickleball Clinics

Join us to play Pickleball, the fastest growing sport not only in North America, but also at the Northern Neck Family YMCA. Pickleball combines the elements of badminton, tennis and ping pong for a fast paced fun racquet sport.

Every Thursday in August our Pickleball pros will offer a clinic to those interested in gaining knowledge and skill at this growing team sport!

Annual Maintenance Closing

Every year, in August, the Northern Neck Family YMCA closes for a few days to tend to extensive housekeeping duties. Our closing days for this year are:

Main Facility: Fri. Aug. 22 – Sun. Aug. 24
Aquatic Center: Wed. Aug 20 at 1pm – Sun. Aug. 24

Youth Super Sports – Soccer

AGES: 3-5, 6-9, and 9-14

Youth Super Sports trained coaches introduce the basic skills and rules of soccer. Dribbling, passing, marking, and shooting at the goal are explored. Good sportsmanship and character development are emphasized. Fitness concepts include fitness for the heart, lungs, and muscles, safe play, flexibility, and healthy eating.
