DANCING WITH THE RIVER STARS – WINNERS ARE
The Third Annual Dancing with the River Stars, presented by the Richmond County Family YMCA, saw over 300 guest in attendance. Twenty dancers, making up 10 couples competed not just to be crowned dance champions, but to raise funds for the YMCA Annual Campaign.
A diverse lineup of dances, entertained the crowd all night, but it was the team of Libby Trible and Dr. Tom Cleary that were crowned the champions with a judges score of 40.5 after dancing to Funk Soul Brother.
Libby’s husband, Pete filled in at the eleventh hour to dance with Kim Lewis. Pete and Kim only had a day and a half to prepare, but pulled off a memorable performance while winning the coveted Community Choice award, as the dance team that received the most votes from sponsors and event goers.
Branch Director, Philip Belfield exclaimed, “Although we are still counting, this has clearly been the largest fundraiser in our YMCAs history. It was a remarkable showing of support from our community. The YMCA is so thankful for all of the dancers and their willingness to participate and support their Y.” The event co-chairs, Paula Milsted and Kathryn Scott, are to be commended for a wonderful evening had by all as they transformed an empty storefront into an incredible evening.
SCHOOL-AGE CHILD CARE
The YMCA School-Age program provides an environment where children can easily make friends, be part of a group, meet physical challenges, and know that they are liked, respected and appreciated. Our program offers youth the opportunity to have fun while learning healthy living through 5210 and science, technology, engineering and math through S.T.E.M. reading and arts activities.Learn More »
