What is the Strong Communities Campaign? The Strong Communities Campaign helps the Peninsula YMCA provide a wide range of programs, activities and memberships for children and families who could not otherwise afford the cost of these programs.
Registration is now open for the 3rd Annual YMCA Duathlon, Saturday, November 3, 2007. In it's second year, the event more than doubled in size. The 5-kilometer run begins at the Luter YMCA and tours colonial Smithfield. The second leg, the 25-kilometer bike ride, winds through the beautiful surrounding countryside, ending back at the YMCA to start the final 5-kilometer run. The bike course has been praised for its challenging hairpin turns and ample straight-aways while the run course ends with a hill that will leave you with a sense of self-accomplishment. Volunteers were crucial to the enormous success of last year's event; we welcome all who wish to volunteer for this year.
