Julia Blackley and Jeremy Gassen
Julia Blackley-Rice is a lifelong resident of Richmond County. She graduated from Radford University in 2003 with a Bachelor of Business Administration with a concentration in Finance. She just recently joined the loan administration team at People’s Community Bank. She is an active member of Warsaw United Methodist Church where she is the Financial Secretary, a member of the Vitality Team, and heads up the Audio Visual team to enhance services. She has even been known to video a wedding there too! Julia is greatly invested in this community and town as her parents and family are here. She lives in the Town of Warsaw with her husband, Neil, and children Matthew (10) and Maggie (2). Her passion of helping to see Warsaw thrive is evident with her recent appointment to the Town of Warsaw Planning Commission. Julia is very grateful to the Y for their help and encouragement with her quest to be healthy. Her motto is Progress, not Perfection. This was instilled in her by one of our awesome Y instructors!
While studying Theatre and Dance at Southwest Missouri State University, Jeremy Gassen picked up a “day job” as a front desk clerk at a local hotel. He would go on to spend over a decade in the hotel industry, working for some of the world’s largest hotel chains. In 2014, Jeremy and his husband Ric took over management of the Essex Inn, a 5-star Bed & Breakfast in Tappahannock.
