WHAT PARENTS SHOULD KNOW:
Staff Information
Parents, you can rest assured that your camper(s) are in safe and capable hands. All camp staff are CPR and First Aid trained and are screened against criminal and child protective service records. Since we are surrounded by water and have a pool, we guarantee that all water activities are lifeguarded by certified staff. With a counselor to camper ratio of 1:5, we always have our eyes on your child. Our staff can’t wait to spend quality time exploring nature, teaching archery, water sports, and leading family time! We spare no cost to make sure our staff exceeds your every expectation.
Meet The Director
I’ve had the honor and privilege to work for the Peninsula Metropolitan YMCA for the past 25 years. My personal mission and values lock up perfectly with the Y’s mission and values; I believe that every young person is a unique individual who deserves to experience what Camp Kekoka offers. You have seen and heard all about the sun, fun and water-sports, but that isn’t even the best part about what we offer! We give young people the tools to build character, form friendships, and develop leadership skills in a caring and nurturing atmosphere.
As a parent myself, I understand that sending your child away to an overnight camp can be scary. I can personally promise you that I place physical and emotional safety at camp as the top priority. – Cassie Leichty
Take It From a Camper and Her Mom
Sydney describes what it’s like to attend camp, the support from the counselors, and how attending camp has inspired her. Mom talks about the benefits of camp for her daughter.
Take It From A Parent
Our daughter Elizabeth has always had an adventurous spirit so after attending an informational meeting about YMCA Camp Kekoka, we decided this was the camp for her and allowed her to go. We are so glad we sent her; she had the most sensational camp experience!
Elizabeth could not wait to go back and returned to Camp Kekoka again last summer. She loves the tubing, kayaking, fishing, crafts, sailing, gardening, and hanging out with friends. She has developed great friendships and keeps in contact with her new friends from camp.
The camp staff have helped instill positive values, increased her self-confidence, and strengthened her sense of responsibility and independence! – Robyn and Thomas
