soccer for youth
Soccer is a super-fun sport to play and the benefits of playing are many – fresh air, newly-mowed fields, lawn chairs lining the sidelines, meeting up with your teammates, people cheering you on, running, kicking, attacking the goal, a game well-played. Playing soccer builds endurance and coordination, increases muscle tone and bone strength, reduces stress, promotes heart health, and helps develop a team-player attitude.
The Y offers a variety of opportunities to play soccer. The following programs are not held at all YMCA locations; contact your local Y to find out about soccer.
Kids gain such self-confidence on the soccer field and, for many, the best part is having their parents and neighbors there cheering them on. It builds family bonds and adds to their sense of security and esteem.
Parents participate with their children in this introductory program to basic soccer skills – taught of course with an emphasis on caring, honesty, respect and responsibility. Fun, fair play, teamwork, participation, fundamentals, and family involvement. Taught indoors in the winter and outdoors in the fall.
